ABOUT THE VICTOR GROUP, INC. The Victor Group, Inc. is a consulting firm providing strategic services to organizations that have advancement, organizational or management opportunities. We specialize in capital campaign management and strategic and organizational planning but have the capabilities to prepare a specialized consulting program to meet the needs of your institution or non-profit organization. Dr. Hemphill will personally direct or serve as the primary consultant on all contracted services. Participating consultants are available with varying skill sets to assist when the organization’s needs require. Dr. Jim Hemphill, President The Victor Group, Inc. Dr. Hemphill has experience in all levels of educational service and has worked in the corporate arena as a vice president and managing partner of Edfinancial Services, Inc. of Knoxville, Tennessee, a national leader in student loan origination and servicing. Dr. Hemphill managed the student loan consolidation division of Edfinancial and in 2006 his division accounted for $1.2 billion in student loan consolidations. During the five years preceding his time in the corporate office, Dr. Hemphill was an internal consultant and manager of Edfinancial’s contractual agreement in Little Rock, Arkansas with the Arkansas Student Loan Authority to provide all operations and marketing services. During that period, the Arkansas Authority became one of the leading student loan providers in the region with an approximate 20% annual loan volume increase. In June of 1998, after serving four years as the special assistant to the Mississippi superintendent of education and the education department’s liaison to the Mississippi Legislature, Dr. Hemphill resigned to form The Victor Group, Inc. During year one of the consulting firm’s existence, two contracts were entered into; the first with Hinds Community College, Raymond, MS, to develop and manage a $5 million capital campaign to help rebuild the campus signature building which had been lost to fire and with Mississippi Higher Education Assistance Corporation to assist in developing its college access planning program. The Campaign for Hinds resulted in a successful initiative, the largest community college campaign ever conducted in Mississippi, and the rebuilding of Cain Hall, now named Cain-Cochran Hall to also honor Mississippi’s senior senator, Thad Cochran. The second contract culminated in Dr. Hemphill’s eventual professional involvement with Edfinancial Services and his managing partnership with the corporation. In June of 2008, Dr. Hemphill reorganized private consulting operations of The Victor Group, Inc. During the first eight months of the renewed consulting efforts, Victor Group again contracted with Hinds Community College to lead a comprehensive strategic planning process to assist the institution in positioning to meet the challenges of the future. (Hinds is the largest community college in Mississippi with close to 18,000 students served in training, educational and other community service programs.) |
